You set complicated passwords, you use a VPN and you are afraid of brilliant hackers. But the truth is that the main threat is not outside, it is inside.

 

The legal trojans you trust

Most crypto interfaces, sites and extensions are stuffed with marketing scripts. Developers want to know everything about you: where you click, how long you sit on a page. To get that, they glue Google Analytics, Mixpanel or Hotjar into their code.

Do you know how Hotjar works? It is a legal trojan. It literally records video of your screen. It sees your sessions, your mouse movements, and worst of all, it can intercept data from your clipboard.

 

The illusion of corporate security

They tell you: “We are a big company, your data is safe.” True, Sundar Pichai and the boards in Silicon Valley are not going to steal your satoshis. They have no need to.

But every large database is looked after by actual people. A rank-and-file admin, a mid-level developer or a tester with the right level of access holds the keys to the Hotjar logs. He has a mortgage and instalments to pay. He simply opens the recording of your screen, copies the data down, swaps a different address into your clipboard, or pulls out your seed phrase if you happened to display it.

And do you know what happens next? You write to support. They run an “internal investigation” (that is, they check themselves) and send you a templated reply: “No vulnerability was found on our side. You compromised your keys yourself.”

 

Our approach: total sterilization of the code

At Mitilena we believe privacy cannot be conditional. That is why we physically cut every third-party script out of our processes.

• We do not have Google Analytics and we never will.
• We have no Hotjar and no other screen recording tools.
• We do not track how you use the wallet.

Our code is open to audit and anyone can see for themselves: the interface is absolutely sterile.

Only you see your screen. We removed the technical possibility of an insider hack in the first place.
